Phones are the new Durex
We find many things sexy. Men, women, cars, stereos, shoes, bags, even socks can be sexy. Whoever would have guessed that phones could be sexy though? When we compare worldwide roaming fees online the last thing we’re thinking about is how much will a call cost. More often the first thing that pops into our heads is how sexy will my phone be?
Gone are the days when mobile phones were niche and chunky and only to be found in the hands of people like Gordon Gekko. Anyone from any walk of life can now find a phone to match their style. Whilst touch screen phones rule the roost on functionality and adaptability, many users still prefer to have the option of buttons as well. The sensation of actually being able to push something and feel it respond to your touch is something that a touch screen just can’t reproduce. As far back as the 90s people were beginning to recognise that mobile phones would become the ‘must have accessory'for the new millennium. Even a BBC news report published in the late 90s showed that despite the unknown health risks, people were hungry for mobiles.
Like our partners (if we have them), mobile phones are being used to identify the kind of person we are. A sleek and slim iphone might show you to be trendy and at the cutting edge of modern life. Similarly a smaller flip top phone would serve to illustrate that you don’t care about keeping up with the Joneses. You are your own man or woman.
It’s fascinating…and sexy.
