Sexy Science Is Everywhere
For too long people have given us scientists a hard time. They think of us – indeed, YOU may think of us – as geeks. People who spend all our time in laboratories studying useless data that nobody will ever benefit from, and learning things which nobody else will ever understand.
Okay, so we do spend our lives staring at moss and a fair bit of time discovering our data is useless, but at the same time we do actually produce some good work. Here, below, are my top 4 reasons why science is sexy:
1) What is sexier than curing something? You’d be right to say it doesn’t happen every day, but at the same time, lots of little steps are definitely a big step towards a massive breakthrough!
2) Science is something all kinds of people are involved in: sexy people, thin people, fat people, but most of all: interesting people! Scientists generally have a good understanding of all walks of life, which means they can hold a decent conversation too!
3) Science has gotten younger and more hip: now, on TV, you can see all kinds of TV shows which prove this point. And with scientists also becoming popular presenters that we all know and look forward to seeing, there’s no reason this stigma won’t be broken soon.
4) Science is intelligence, and who ever said that intelligence wasn’t sexy? Think about it, when looking for a potential partner, do you seek out the thickest person in the room? No, you don’t…at least I hope you don’t. Therefore I do believe I win. Science is sexy and that’s really all there is to it!
