The Science of Looking Good
Over the years, science has played a major part in creating cosmetics and contributing to the world of beauty. Whether it is something as simple as a lipstick or hair color, to something as complicated as botox or plastic surgery, we can’t do without newer, better innovations in the beauty industry. All this for a simple reason - looking good sells.
There are many breakthroughs science has made to make one appear younger, prettier and more attractive. The endless battle against age hasn’t been won - yet. But we’re getting there, as anti-aging products now come as creams and serums and botox has become a household term. People, both men and women, have shed inhibitions and are willing to experiment with their looks, as long as the result is how they picture it to be. There are no qualms about going under the knife to get that nose corrected, or lips swelled up, and even get hair sewn to cover bald patches. All this is thanks to science’s wonderful contribution.
Another innovation that has spread like wildfire among women and men alike, is laser hair removal. Gone are the days when removing hair was a messy process of bleaching, shaving or painful waxing. Women cringed at the thought of bikini waxing but now all that is passe. Laser hair removal is easy, painless and more permanent than any other type of hair removal process. It is performed by dermatologists who pass a laser beam through the skin to eliminate hair from its roots. It is instant, and unlike waxing, it is safe enough to be performed on the face. It is expensive, but in the long run, it proves to be the most satisfying procedure of hair removal.
So next time you apply make-up or buy a new face wash, remember there’s a bit of science in everything!
